Lullabamboo

For this next project we are working on a brand identity design. I chose to do Lullababmboo for my identity. Lullabamboo is a eco-friendly line of children's clothing made from bamboo. I'm wanting to use a panda in my logo and maybe some bamboo. Here are some logos I drew some inspiration from.

These are some websites offering similar products.

I started to work straight from my sketches in illustrator. I created my logos simply using the shape tools provided. For the font I just used the brush tool and my own handwriting.

This is the paper system...

For the website I decided to keep things on the simple side. I just used the black and white logo for the top and my supplementary font, noteworthy, for all of the different selections.

I used my color logo for the signage and hang tag as it is a little more eye catching.

Campus Police Poster

I've been working to create a logo for the RSU Campus Police. I ended up with a very well balanced logo using primarily the type face Gothom. So when I began to translate the logo into a 11"x17" poster I wanted to keep the balance that had been established in the logo. So I opted to incorporate the university logo in the opposite corner as the hillcat and use the words that pertain to the things that the RSU police help facilitate safety in.

Campus Police

Our assignment was to redo the campus police logo. Here are my sketches.

This is where I am for a black and white logo.
After the critique I realized that I needed to add a non-type element to make my logo more of a logo and less of a type treatment. I decided to use the hellcat logo and add it into the 'u' to make it more of a RSU logo.

Reinventing the RSU Campus Police

Today we were given the assignment to give the RSU campus police an update, the logos and signage that they are using is very out-dated and on the edge of being ineffective. We were given the choice between a poster, a t-shirt, a car wrap, and a call box to redesign. I'm debating between doing the poster or the call box.

Here is my word list! And a picture of a Campus Police officer with his car.

Rhonda Voo

For My info graphic assignment I chose the illustrator Rhonda Voo. I found her technique very interesting and simple to recreate. The way she creates all of her images is through cutting paper to make scenes with the shapes. They way i'm planning to recreate this in illustrator is to trace the piece and use a drop shadow to emulate the cut paper effect.

This is my final reproduction of the illustration by Rhonda Voo. I used the pen tool primarily, and I utilized the drop shadow effect to make it look like cut paper.

Graphs

Today we worked on graphs and charts in Graphic Design 2. I experimented with gradients and colors, and played with type a little. I'm finding I'm needing to work on color schemes.

Travel Posters

For my travel poster I chose to do Ireland. This wasn't a hard choice for me, because I've been there 6 times and I'm considering going back there for a 7th visit this summer, so I know quite a lot about the culture and the different sights to see. Here is my word list...

My colors will be green (of course) and possibly a grey, I'm eating to work in more muted vintage tones. My favorites so far are numbers 1, 4, 5, 7, and 9.

For my further direction I've chosen green, blue, and brown for my color pallet. Here is a tighter sketch for my travel poster.

This is the finished product for my travel poster.

Mr. Rogers Layout

This is the final product for my page layout for my project on Mr. Rogers. I decided to use the colors from his sweater and shoes to make the word neighbor and the question mark more of a statement.

Mr Rogers Portrait

I started with this picture of Fred Rogers for my portrait.

Then I began blocking in all the shadows with the brush tool.

You can see how I laid out my layers with the different colors of brush strokes I used.

This is the final product.

Mr. Rogers

For our next project in Graphic Design 2 we are working on a poster tribute to someone that we look up to that is no longer living. For my person I chose Fred Rogers from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. I used to watch his show whenever it came on TV, and he was actually the first person I thought of when the project was mentioned. I can't wait to get started.

Here are some inspiration photos that I might work from.

Here are some sources from my research.

kaleidoscope

My original image was a pile of leaves that I took on campus.

I tries to map out my image with the brush tool, but my eye for insane detail really overwhelmed me very quickly and decided to simplify my image using the  image trace tool. I traced the image using the 6 color photo setting, and I thought it came out nicely.

Here is the final product.

Icon Vector Art

After finalizing the sketch I wanted to use for my graphic I placed a picture of my sketch in Illustrator so I could trace it.

After I finished tracing the leaf form I began to work on the hair. I used the pen tool for the leaf, but since my hair is sort of wavy and slightly unruly I decided to use a different tool, the paintbrush tool seemed to work well for what I was wanting to do.

Here are some of the final products.
And finally the outline.
